York Region Public Health inspectors charged a long-term care home in Vaughan with food safety violations last week.

Villa Leonardo Gambin at 40 Friuli Crt. was charged with refrigerating potentially hazardous foods at an internal temperature above 4C on June 7, according to the public health inspection report.

The report notes a list of noncompliance items, including failing to adjust or repair a malfunctioning cooler and failing to retain records of pest control measures taken for one year.

Food handler education was conducted on-site, an acceptable temporary measure was put in place, and a re-inspection will be conducted. A ticket was served.

The facility was previously inspected in February, eight times in 2023 and twice in 2022.

York Region Public Health states the inspection report represents the condition of the restaurants at the date and time of the inspection only and does not guarantee or warrant the condition of the food premises at any other time.
