The Town of Aurora is encouraging its residents and businesses to ensure all trick-or-treaters can fully enjoy the Halloween experience.
For the second year in a row, the town is promoting the initiative to make trick-or-treating accessible for everyone, according to a town news release.
Residents and businesses are asked to make simple adjustments to how they provide treats, either setting up a table on the driveway, lawn or in the garage, adding pathway lighting, offering non-food treats or turning down the music and strobe lights.
“This initiative encourages residents and businesses to make simple yet impactful adjustments to how they provide treats and a Halloween experience,” said Mayor Tom Mrakas. “By taking steps to make trick-or-treating accessible, we’re not just removing barriers, we’re building a more inclusive and compassionate community where everyone can participate in the fun.”
Residents are encouraged to register and display a free Treat Accessibly lawn sign, signalling to trick-or-treaters that their home is an accessible treat location and to show their commitment to making Halloween inclusive for everyone.
